A Reminder from Sly Fox & Birdie and California Operation Lifesaver:
- Cross tracks ONLY at designated pedestrian or roadway crossings. Observe and obey all warning signs and signals.
- Never walk down a train track; it’s illegal and it’s dangerous. By the time a locomotive engineer can see you on the tracks, it is too late. The train cannot stop quickly enough to avoid a collision.
- Be aware trains do not follow set schedules. Any Time is Train Time!
ChronoTrack Timing System
State of the art ChronoTrack systems will be used to record participants’ times at the start, at certain splits along the course and at the finish. The ChronoTrack system uses a disposable tag, called a D Tag, which allows you to walk away from the finish without the need to have your tag collected.
The ChronoTrack timing tag (D Tag) will be attached to your race bib. The D Tag will be labeled with a number that matches your race number. When you pick up your bib, please make sure these numbers match, and also verify that YOUR name is printed on the bib you are issued*. Proceed to the Solutions Table if any of the information is incorrect.
Prior to the race, you must remove the tag from your number and attach it to your shoe. Please follow the instructions provided in your registration packet.
PLEASE NOTE: All participants in this race must wear the ChronoTrack timing tag on your shoe in order to have their times recorded. ChampionChip timing equipment will NOT be used at this race; ChampionChip timing chips will NOT record your time.
*If you register for the race before online registration closes (11:59 PST, March 31, 2013), your race bib should have your name printed on it.

For the safety of the children, a “kid check” system will be enforced at the secure zone exit for all participants ages 8 & under.
Each blue/yellow bib has two numbers. The large, main portion is to be worn by the child; the upper, smaller portion is to be torn off and worn by the adult. At the end of the secure zone exit, children will be released to the parent or guardian who possesses the matching race number. Please not that there will be a designated exit for participants with a blue bib and participants with a yellow bib.
For 9-12 year old racers, please plan to meet your child at the exit of the secure zone, located on Carlsbad Village Drive and Roosevelt. Plan ahead and have a meeting place and time in case you become separated.
